We met with John Bowes (director of catering), and we were instantly pleased with his personality and even more impressed by the beauty of the Wilshire Grand. The Grand Ballroom is just that; grand. It is elegant, clean and a perfect place for a wedding. After shopping around at numerous other places, it was agreed that The Wilshire Grand was the place. John was an absolute pleasure to work with. He always responded to emails/phone calls in a prompt manner and he did EVERYTHING possible to ensure that our day was perfect. Our cocktail hour was exceptional. All of our guests couldn’t believe the quantity and QUALITY of the food that was served. Even though we didn’t get to enjoy all of it, we were told it was all delicious. Our bridal attendant made us up a plate of food so that we could sample some of it. What we did get to eat was fantastic. The entire team that handled our wedding was fantastic. They made sure everyone was happy and had everything they needed. John even made sure that special dinners were made for my grandmothers!! We didn’t get to eat our dinner until 2am, and only because they had packed up 2 dinners for us and had them waiting in the fridge in our bridal suite for us. Everything was perfect. Food was delicious and plentiful, service was fantastic, every room was spotless and the staff was beyond accommodating. We would highly recommend the Wilshire Grand Caterers (and hotel) to anyone. A special thank you to John Bowes for directing a fabulous staff and meeting all of our needs.
Our wedding at the Wilshire Grand was a dream, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for such a special day. The food, service, and atmosphere were unbeatable. Everyone was incredibly helpful and attentive to us and ensured that our day was just what we hoped for. I heard rave reviews from our guests about how amazing the food was, from the cocktail hour, to the dinner, to the Viennese display. People were also blown away by the service they received. I hope I can someday attend another event at the Wilshire Grand!
I love John and the Wilshire Grand! The bend over backwards to make sure your big day is perfect. The were flexible in price, always responded within hours of your call, and the service was impeccable.
Guests were delighted with the amount and variety of food. Many commented that it was the best quality food they ever had at a wedding.
The staff was second to none. Everyone was pleasant and aimed to please. Every guest was treated with five-star service (even the most difficult of family members!).
The joke about the wedding weekend was that you never needed to leave the hotel. The rehearsal dinner at Primavera was fantastic, hospitality room at the catering hall was made easy, and the hotel just steps away.
I highly recommend the Wilshire, northern nj wedding venue, and suggest you work with John, the most sweet, funny, and accommodating man!
As a wedding planner in NJ it was a really hard decision to find a northern nj wedding venue when I had been to so many of them all over the state. There were some places I just knew that no matter what I did, we’d never be able to have our wedding there because of the price pp. My husband and I had a day long search of venues and when we arrived at TWG neither one of us knew what to expect because I had never worked an event there. Upon entering the venue I was impressed with how clean it was along with the elegance of the entry way. Anne (who no longer works there) showed us around the premises and was such a pleasure to work with. She was no nonsense and seemed eager to please. She saved the cocktail hour area and the grand ballroom for last.
I was completely in awe of how gorgeous the space was. Long story short, she worked with us to get the best deal possible and even upgraded us to a few extra amenities which were important to me. (vodka luge, extra stations etc) Leading up to our wedding I found out she was no longer there but had been assigned to work with Bill who was just as pleasant. Nelsy took care of our guest room block and made the process seamless. A few days before the wedding my dad and I went to make the final arrangements and I found out that they had upgraded to chivari chairs in which i balled hysterically because I hated the old chairs they had and wanted to rent chivaris but it was OUT of the budget. The wedding was phenomenal. I still have guest to this very day commenting on how beautiful, magnificent and scrumptious everything was. The food was the seller for us.
We’re foodies and wanted our guests to have so much food they couldn’t see straight. TWG delivered. Even when I wanted 2 specialty cocktails as part of our martini bar they obliged and made them perfectly. I cannot say better things about this northern nj wedding venue but I do think they’re in the top 10 in the state. The service was SPOT ON nothing was too much for them to do. I HIGHLY recommend this venue.
